Through initiatives such as the Social and Economic Inclusion Grant for Persons with Disabilities, Richard Spragg was placed on the paid 6-week work Apprenticeship Program at Sweetie Confectionery Company Ltd, Kingston. The company has since offered Richard full-time employment. This opportunity has positioned Richard to gain experience, improve his skill level, contribute to his family & the productivity of the country.

Who we are

The Abilities Foundation is a registered voluntary organization and a Community-Based Training Institution with Heart Trust/NTA.

The Foundation’s establishment in October, 5, 1992 was greatly influenced by the lobbying effort of members of the disabled community in Jamaica who recognized the need for a specialized vocational education and training programme to serve all types of disabilities. Its existence is a collaborative effort of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Heart Trust NTA and a number of agencies of and for persons with disabilities.

We took special interest in designing trainings which teach you all the skills and knowledge that you need to know before embarking on a new business venture. We train on the aspects of:

  • Customer Service Skill Training

Utilizing hands-on instruction, we provide customized training for students in the areas of:

  • Housekeeping

  • Furniture Making

  • Data Operations

  • Design and Decor/Soft Furnishing

  • Horticulture  and Landscaping

  • Cosmetology- Nail Technology and Make-up Artistry
  • Customer Service Level 2

Support Services

We want to assist you in achieving your goals and living a fulfilling life! Therefore we offer support services such as:
